About

 

Yangon Art and Heritage started to bring art to Yangon downtown streets and to celebrate and explore its rich cultural heritage through experimental, community and contemporary art.

Established itself as a not-for-profit contemporary art and heritage organization based in Yangon- Myanmar 2014. The first inauguration festival celebrated in March 2015 was titled and themed as “My Home My Yangon” and was curated by Diana Valarezo, Htein Lin and Jose Abad Lorente and in cooperation HMA Andrew Patrick -British from the Embassy in Yangon as a main fundraiser and festival supporter.

Yangon Art and Heritage Festival (YAHF) aims to act as a platform for artists and to develop projects and initiatives that blends contemporary art practices and heritage concerns. It is now working out on its way to build up the festival as an international standing space to create and incubate public art projects and to contribute as part of the thriving and emerging art scene in Yangon.

YAHF's endeavors are also forwarded to create and an international and cross-disciplinary art hub and to make artists and audiences to engage more with the very important aspects of Yangon cultural heritage and contemporary art practices.

Mission

Yangon Art & Heritage Festival aims to be an open cultural space and medium to link artists and creative cultural practitioners together with Yangon historic architectural, cultural and intangible heritage.

We aim to use the city as a platform for new possibilities of urban art. We also search for intentional networking, collaborating, exhibiting, researching and making contemporary art with the city's history and for the city’s future.
